Members,
Thursday, the Planning Commission will hear the matter of AgeSong's project to put a senior and disabled care facility at the corner of Page and Masonic (next to St. Agnes Church). In order for us to properly represent HAIA's position on the project, I would like to hear from you, if you are either for or against this plan for supervised care housing, and a sentence or two on why. I look forward to your responses.

Although I cringe at changing zoning, the idea of a rooftop open space makes a lot of sense. It holds a lot of "green" potential and will offer a safe space for the residents to get a face full of fog or fresh air without hassling with the streets. I also like the idea that the facade of the building will not change. This seems like a worthwhile development and a much better alternative to a vacant, crumbling building. I do hope that heed was paid to the concerns expressed at the meeting regarding the safety of the residents and the need for exit check-points and a safe smoking area.
ReplyDeleteBefore February's meeting I went online for information about AgeSong. Their program description, affiliations, training and attitude on elder care was impressive. AgeSong has a (dare I say?) "progressive" philosophy and, presumably, is free of the usual stereotyping. I liked Nader and his straight-forward presentation. And that they have a strong partnership with the SF Dept. of Public Health seals the deal for me. I welcome them to our neighborhood.
