You probably heard that one idea to help close the City's budget deficit is to charge to enter the Arboretum. How much? Rec & Park suggests the admission would be $5 a person! You have an opportunity to speak your mind about this at a meeting next week. The attached flyer has the details. A quick summary of the vital information:

Right now Rec and Park rents out over an acre of land to HANC for the recycling center. They charge what amounts to approximately a penny a square foot. It would appeat that letting such valuable land go for next to nothing makes no economic sense. Perhaps the deficit in their budget could be reconciled with renting the space to a more neighborly friendly group/cause. Certainly something more neighborhood serving - not this non-conforming use (the lease expired quite some time ago).
